This, that, these, those
THIS (singular) and THESE (plural) point to things near us: This scarf is soft. These shoes are comfortable. THAT (singular) and THOSE (plural) point to things far from us: That jacket is nice. Those trousers are expensive.
Without a noun: What is this? Are these yours? Is that your coat?

These shoes are comfortable.
That jacket is nice.
Are those trousers yours?
One and ones
To avoid repeating a noun, we use “one” (singular) and “ones” (plural): I like this jacket, but I prefer the blue one. These shoes are too small. Do you have bigger ones?
We often use one / ones after an adjective: the black one, the cheap ones, a bigger one.
I like this scarf, but I prefer the wool one.
These shoes are too big. Do you have smaller ones?
Which jacket do you like? — The warm one.
I don’t like the red ones.
Shopping for clothes
Useful questions: Do you have this in a bigger size? Can I try this on? How much is it? What is it made of? Is it warm enough? Where can I pay?
Useful answers: It’s made of wool. It costs fifty euros. We only have it in medium. Yes, you can try it on.
Do you have this in a bigger size?
Can I try these on, please?
What is it made of?
How much is this jacket?
