Why do Finns have 3 million saunas?

Finland has about 5.5 million people and about 3 million saunas. That is almost one sauna for every two people!

Many Finns go to the sauna once a week. In the sauna, it is hot, quiet and peaceful. People leave their phones outside and just sit, talk or think. Many say it is the best way to relax.

The Finnish sauna tradition is even on the UNESCO list of cultural heritage, since 2020.
