What was the world’s first scheduled flight like?

On 1 January 1914, in Florida in the USA, the world's first scheduled passenger flight took off. It flew from St. Petersburg to Tampa.

The plane was small, with two wings and no roof. It carried only one passenger. His name was Abram Pheil, and he paid a lot of money for the ticket.

The flight was short: about 23 minutes. The plane flew low over the water of Tampa Bay.

That year, the airline stopped its flights after a few months. But the idea of regular flights stayed, and soon airlines appeared all over the world.

Today, millions of passengers fly every day. Do you like flying?
