What do people wear in hot places?
What do people wear in hot places? In hot countries, people want clothes that keep them cool. Cotton and linen are popular because they are light and soft, and the air goes through them. People also like loose clothes, because tight clothes feel hot.
Colour is important too. Light colours, for example white or yellow, reflect the sunlight, and dark colours take more heat. This is why many people in hot places wear light clothes. In many desert countries, people wear a long loose shirt and a scarf or a hat, because it protects them from the sun and from the sand. It is not only a tradition, but also a very good idea.
On the feet, people wear sandals or light shoes. In the city, many people wear shorts, a T-shirt and sunglasses. In a clothes shop, you can say: "How much are these sandals?" or "Can I try that shirt, please?" You can also ask: "What size is this?"
A good tip for a hot day: choose this kind of clothes, drink a lot of water and stay in the shade at noon.
