What sports do people play?

What sports do people play? In the world, there are hundreds of sports. Many people say that football is the most popular sport, because people play and watch it in almost every country. A football match has got two teams, and each team has got eleven players. A player scores a goal when the ball goes into the goal. Players practise a lot, and a good coach helps them.

Other sports are popular in some countries. Cricket is very popular in India and Pakistan. People play baseball in the USA and in Japan. Basketball was created in 1891 in the USA, and today people play it everywhere.

Not all sports have got a ball. Many people go swimming in the pool or in the sea, go running in the park or go cycling. Other people do yoga or judo. In English, we use play with ball sports, do with sports like yoga, and go with -ing words: go swimming, go running.

Sport is good for your body and your head. You can be fit, make friends and feel happy. Some people like winning, but other people just like moving.
